Ritual has its place. So does winning. A pilot who learns, adapts, and returns with the hull intact honors the Chapter more than one who merely speaks loudly.
A ship should be dangerous, yes. But it should also announce that its pilot chose the fight, the hull, the skin, and the myth on purpose.
Statistics are useful. Stories are better. The Karnivale values memorable engagements, brave pilots, and wreckage worth talking about.
No pilot is expected to burn out for an internet spaceship cult, no matter how magnificently dressed that cult may be.
Speak as a loyal subject, a cynical officer, a holy lunatic, or a practical shipwright. The Chapter has room for character.
